Quilt Details from Susan Barbour's Civil War Quilt

Notice the variety of stitches used around each patch.

The stitch detail is amazing and the colors are vibrant.

Since black and white photographs
from the Civil War can
not begin to give us a glimpse at the colors,
it is wonderful
to see the variety of colors of cloth
that were available at
the time of the Civil War in this crazy quilt.

The ordinary tones of the squares above picture some of
the everyday fabrics as opposed to the silks of dresses.

A multitude of stitches set off the variety of fabrics in
this crazy quilt remnant.

wow these are cool... you have alot of patience to play with fabric and sewing like my mum. i do not have patience for a needle and thread. only paintbrush or pencil.
